Westin was my first Toller and the dog who started the Paradise program. I got him to be a hunting dog, and he’s never forgotten it — he’s excellent in the field and equally at home in the conformation ring, where he’s earned his Grand Championship and a NOHS Best of Opposite Sex. His favorite sports are barn hunt and dock diving, and he’ll try just about anything you put in front of him. The catch: teach him something once and he’s done. He’ll give you that look — the one that says I already know this, why are we still here? What he really loves is shaping, throwing behaviors at you just to see what you’ll click. He’s the sire of Spicy and Tilly, and he passes on that same drive and willingness to work.
